"Make Me Beautiful" Contest
Voting is underway through July 31st for your favorite quilt block in the "Make Me Beautiful" contest and raffle. This is a fundraiser to benefit the Verde Valley Sanctuary Women's Shelter.
To date, we have received over 100 blocks that were created using one of three fat-eighth fabrics designated for use. Each block contains at least 20% of the fabric required. The submissions are exceptionally creative and amazing. The "Viewers Choice" and "Runners Up" will be announced on August 3rd.
The response has been so great that we will be making Two Quilts to be raffled. Tickets will go on sale in the Fall and the winner will be announced at our annual Holiday Open House on December 3rd.
The 2016 "Shop Hop" Passport Booklets are available now for $5.00 each at the store. The event takes place July 21st - 30th. Present your booklet at any participating shop for your "Shop Hoppers" discount (10% OFF all merchandise, excluding sewing machines). Get your Passport stamped at each shop and turn it in for a chance to win.
Five shops in Northern Arizona are participating this year. There will be 9 Winner's Baskets and one Grand Prize awarded in August. We look forward to seeing you!
Most of our teachers are taking a break for the summer, but if you see a class that you want and have two or more friends to join you, then give us a call. We will do our best to accommodate you.
Meet Roeland and Corina from Holland. They were visiting Sedona last year when Roeland proposed! They stopped by the Quilter's Store and bought some of our signature "Sedona" fabric depicting Cathedral Rock and our green cacti print. The fabric was passed on to Roeland's mother, Hanny Verbakel, who made an amazing love quilt!
Hanny created her "Sedona Love" quilt in a traditional log cabin style. She used the Sedona landscape on the front, and the prickly pear cacti on the back. It was gifted to the couple as a wedding present. They were married on July 1, 2016! Our hats go off to Hanny for her wonderful work and creativity, and our congratulations to the newlyweds!
When basting a quilt, use an inexpensive light colored thread, a dark color may leave marks on the fabric. Photo by Moonlight Quilters.

It is difficult for me to write this month's newsletter, with so much chaos going on in the country. But all great things are preceded by chaos. It is somewhat reassuring to think that all we are experiencing is just a precursor to a major metamorphosis.
As quilters, we know how to bring comfort and joy. Let's embrace life and let the beauty shine through our works. We are a strong sisterhood and may it strengthen us. We're too wonderful for it not too.
As some of our longtime customers may know, we used to have a separate Gallery building next to the shop where we sold items on consignment. We will be reopening the Gallery in the coming months and we are now accepting artist submissions for consideration.|
The Gallery will feature quilts and one-of-a-kind, handmade fiber art works such as wall hangings, framed pictures, jewelry, scarves, cards/stationary, kitchen and home décor accents, sewing room novelties and more.
Initial inquiries can be made by phone or email, but all works must be reviewed in person. Artist submissions will be judged prior to being accepted into the Gallery. We will do our best to review items within three days.
Please call or email us to make an appointment with Cynthia to review your potential works. Artists will receive 70% of the retail price of each item sold, and the Gallery will retain 30%. The Gallery will be open during our regular business hours. Watch for more news in the coming weeks.

Take a Road Trip on Route 66
Are you planning your Road Trip for the 2016 "Row by Row Experience?" Well, don't miss out on traveling Historic Route 66, the most famous road in the U.S.--otherwise known as "America's Mother Road." We've pulled in several nostalgic road trip fabrics from Clothworks, Timeless Treasures and Blank Quilting to accompany you on your way. We've also created an exclusive "Road Trip" Quilt Kit, using the Message Board Pattern by Jill Boyd, the Quilt Chef. (And, of course, don't forget to stop by and see us in Sedona!)
Quilting Treasures Rise & Shine
"Rise and Shine" with this new collection designed by Sarah Hudock for Quilting Treasures. Strikingly handsome roosters strut their stuff as they meander across rich tonal backgrounds of rust, blue and dark tan. Coordinating fabrics with geometric mandalas, intricate feather designs and tonal stripes provide the perfect compliment to these early birds. According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2017 is the "Year of the Rooster," so this collection has arrived just in time to make a great Christmas quilt for someone to herald in the New Year!
We just received the new "Dragon Moon" Collection designed by Nobu Fujiyama for Kona Bay Fabrics. It is intricate, luscious and glittering with gold metallic accents. We have the indigo colorway available in the store and online. Check it out soon because it won't last long.

Robert Kaufman - Sound of the Woods 2
Back by popular demand, "Sound of the Woods 2" is a peaceful winter collection that features shadowy trees, branches and other coordinates that are reminiscent of a light snowfall. Designed by Avery Tillmon for Robert Kaufman Fabrics, this collection blends nicely with the original Sound of the Woods line, designed by Katherine Lovell. The colorways include soft hues of tan and blue with metallic accents. This fabric is perfect for a unique winter quilt or Christmas project for that special someone. We have the FROST panel along with select coordinates available, as well as some of Katherine Lovell's 2015 line.
