2016, mixed media on canvas, 72 x 48 inches
|
| | | Barbe espagnole 57is part of a series inspired by the iconic hanging plant in the Southeastern U.S, known as Spanish moss. Personally, as a native of Louisiana, and for many others, this represents a strong connection to an idea of a natural symbol of the South. The thick curvilinear strands suspended from trees are instantly recognizable, provoking personal memories of a unique history of customs, music and cuisine. Fascination with the nature of form, space and the connections between people and their environment informs this series of art.
