Creek Week 2016 Begins This Saturday!
Santa Barbara’s 17th Annual Creek Week includes events and activities for all ages throughout Santa Barbara, Goleta, and Carpinteria! Creek Week is a celebration of our local watersheds, and an opportunity for community members to learn more about local creeks and the ocean through hands-on activities and volunteer events.

Included in the week-long calendar of events will be creek and beach clean-ups, habitat restoration efforts, guided nature walks, project tours, and more.

  • Creek Week will kick off with Coastal Cleanup Day on Saturday, September 17, 9am-12pm. Volunteers will help clean up over 25 beach and creek locations Countywide. Join the Creeks Division at West Beach or find another volunteer location at

  • On Wednesday, September 21 at 5:30pm, join the Creeks Division and the Creeks Advisory Committee for a site visit to the Arroyo Burro Restoration Project at Barger Canyon, which is currently under construction. RSVP required – find details at

  • On Saturday, September 24 at 10am, the Creeks Division will host a tour on the Land Shark, visiting creek restoration and water quality improvement project sites on land, then venturing into the ocean. Space is limited, $5 RSVP required. Visit to sign up!

  • On Sunday, September 25 at 11am, visit the Watershed Resource Center at Arroyo Burro County Beach Park for fun family activities, demonstrations, and more with Explore Ecology! The Watershed Resource Center is located at 2981 Cliff Drive.

NEW! Join the Creek Week Scavenger Hunt!
We are SO EXCITED to offer our first ever Creek Week Scavenger Hunt! Community members are invited to celebrate Creek Week, explore our local watersheds, and win fun prizes!
The game will begin on Friday, September 16 at noon and will end at midnight on Sunday, September 25.

How to Play:
  1. Download the "GooseChase" app on your iPhone or Android.
  2. Find the "Creek Week 2016" game and use the password "creekweek" to join.
  3. Complete missions!
The first 3 players to complete ALL 20 missions will win gift certificates to their choice of our Clean Creeks Certified Businesses (1st Place $100, 2nd Place $50, 3rd Place $25) and a Creek Week T-Shirt. The next 50 players to complete all 20 missions will receive a Creek Week T-Shirt.
