Happy Hour for Your Brain
Yoga IS Happy Hour
I am midway through leading my first 100-hour Mother Mary Restorative Trance Meditation Teacher Training, and I am tickled and astonished at just how happy it makes me.

I attribute that to the realization that it meets my needs for self-expression, communication, communion, and shared reality. It is enthralling to see the light bulbs illumine and the nectar start to flow in the teacher trainees, many of whom are established teachers with fantastic teaching track records to begin with, and others of whom are fledgling teachers discovering their precious voices of healing and of offering.

One student said happily about Restorative with me: "It's like happy hour for my brain!" I love seeing and encouraging that delight for being in one's own delicious private sanctuary. That is what we aim for in Restorative Yoga, in Yoga Nidra, in all Meditation, and indeed for me in all Yoga. Happy Hour for the Brain, indeed, yes. Samadhi.

So, drink up! Be it Iyengar, Vinyasa, Hatha, Nidra ... what'll you have?  Drink up what your body and brain thirst for.

Mother Mary Restorative Teacher Training Levels 3 and 4 will offer Thai Yoga bodywork, Yoga Nidra, and trance meditation. Teachers and students may come purely for the Thai and Nidra training, or they may take full advantage of integrating and deepening the Basic and Intermediate Restorative practice and teaching skills they have, from my Level 1 and 2 Restorative Training or from their own background.

Bare Naked Face
A week before I turned 57 this last week, I went to the dermatologist, nervous about a rough patch on my cheek after a lifetime of sun loving. It was a minor skin sensitivity, but Dr.M forbade me to put anything on my face other than her Rx balm for 2 weeks.  I attended a 4-day learning weekend "bare-faced" and found myself so loving the vulnerability and authenticity I felt that I continued it with curiosity and interest for the ensuing 2 weeks.

Nobody died of shock, or arrested me for nakedness or non-adultness. I found an extra 5-10 minutes a day and less "stuff" to do liberating. My view toward women's cosmetics is now like the aparigraha practice I have previously explored with meat, coffee, alcohol, food itself as when fasting: it is freeing to know that everything I take on is a choice.

No shame, no blame. To do or not, only choose joy in the choosing to eat, drink, do, wear, say. Choose it, rejoice in it, do it on purpose.
New Nidra Class; Fall Schedule
See below my updated teaching schedule. I am thrilled to add a Yoga Nidra class Mondays 1:15-2:00 at Pure Yoga East. Come and recline for 45 minutes in a comfortable cozy savasana in utter darkness, your own flotation tank! Your body relaxes completely, as your quiet, resting mind listens to my voice leading you on a guided meditation. The Nidra journey resets the brain's nerve circuits, offers pleasurable relaxation, and when coupled with intention can remap our own subconscious programming towards any outcome we may choose ~ if we so wish. A deep, subtle, profound, yogic power nap!

Wash Spin Dry
Lex and Mary reprise our NY AcroFest intermediate washing machine workshop "Wash, Spin, Dry" on Hallowe'en eve Saturday Oct. 30th at Om Factory Union Square. Come play with these fun and challenging transitions, and welcome Lex Peters of Philadelphia's Acrobatic Yoga Motion Design back in his rare NYC appearance, during this super busy Philly season for him!
Beach Strolling ... NYC
Walking NYC like I'm on an adventure race or on a beach stroll creates a wholly different feeling in me, I discovered after a mere 4-days' beach vacation with family. I came back sauntering smiling through the streets as though life were a vacation, like leisurely royalty, Audrey Hepburn with Gregory Peck in Roman Holiday.

Leaving 15 minutes earlier makes that difference for me. 30 minutes makes a huge difference. Less perfectionism is what it takes to make the 15-30 minutes possible. So then, I can serenely smile, content in the present moment, even when I hear the subway song “Ladies and Gentlemen, we are delayed because of train traffic ahead of us. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

NYC AcroYoga Immersion
February 18-21, over Presidents' Day 2017 weekend, Brian Davis and I will co-lead an AcroYoga Elemental Immersion in NYC.

In 30-hours over 4 days, we delve deliciously into both the yin and yang of AcroYoga ~ the beautiful practice that conjoins Yoga, Acrobatics, and the Thai Healing Arts.

Space is limited, at the expanded new Warrior Bridge Yoga Studio downtown. Registrations soon open, with early bird discounts available for 4-day and 3-day options. A few 1-day and 2-day slots are also open. until filled.

This Immersion meets one of the pre-reqs for AcroYoga Teacher Training. For RYT Yoga Educators, these hours are eligible CE credits.
