On the morning of September 30, more than twenty volunteers from Beverly-Hanks & Associates arrived at our doorstep with shovels, drills, and even a tractor in tow. The crew worked for hours to build raised beds in a garden behind our new facility at 705 Oakland.
The project took place as part of United Way's annual Day of Caring, where more than 300 volunteers from Henderson County form teams and are matched with work assignments submitted by local nonprofit organizations.
The garden built by our amazing volunteers will provide an opportunity for students at the newly expanded Grotto Therapeutic Center to learn to plant, care for, and harvest herbs and vegetables. The fruits of this labor will then be used to supply ingredients for our Feed the Need culinary program.
We are so grateful to the Beverly-Hanks team for all their hard work!
