Good Dog! Coaching & Pet Care
We Love Pets, Just Like You..
Happy October Ghouls & Goblins!
Autumn is upon us, leaves are falling and there is a crisp feeling in the evening air. I saw the most beautiful harvest moon last night. Big, full and so bright! It was amazing. As I was out walking with Cole last night she had a spring in her step, the cool air seems to cause her to be even more alert than usual for any critters that may be scurrying about.

Halloween is on its way and it is one of my favorite times of the year. I love the decorations and seeing all the kids in their costumes. I must admit, I do love dressing Cole up for the holiday. Truth be told I love dressing her up for any holiday. She’s a good sport.

Join us this weekend at the Lawrenceville Suwanee Animal Hospital for some Fall Festival Fun from 1pm -4pm, and next weekend at the Canine & Kids Carnival / Trunk or Treat at Briscoe Park in Snellville from
12pm -4pm. We’ll be decorating the Good Dog! mobile for that event.

You’ll see more regarding these events below or click this link to check out our events page.

I hope you and yours have a wonderful fun filled and safe holiday.

Hugs and Happy Tails,

Gone too soon...
In the past couple of months, we have lost a some furry members of our Good Dog!
family.  Sky the bird, Daisy, Sadie and Molley all crossed the Rainbow Bridge.  We are thankful for the time we were able to care for them over the years.  Our condolences go out to their families.  Rest in peace, sweet babies.
Cats Causing Extinction?
You might never think of your cuddly cat as a killer but free roaming domestic cats are causing the extinction of other species at an alarming rate. To date 33 species worldwide have become extinct due to cat predation.

The Stephens Island wren, one of only three flightless songbirds ever known was discovered by lighthouse keeper David Lyall only to be hunted to extinction by his pet cat and a number of others shortly after.

Sitter Spotlight!
Meet Katie Jackson

Position: Pet sitter, Home boarding, Virtual Administrative Assistant

Best Part of Job:  I love every aspect of my job with GOOD DOG! Its so great to talk to new customers when they call and tell them all about what we do, and getting them set up with their first visits and sitters. I especially love that I get to do home boarding. Its so much fun to have a new pet in my home to play with and love, but I also love that I'm giving their family peace of mind knowing their fur baby is safe and happy while they have to be away.

Hobbies:  In my spare time I enjoy baking in the kitchen or even doing some work in my yard! My husband Chris and I are kept very busy with three fur babies of our own: Shae, Drogo and Benjin.

Pet of the Month
Meet Zoe Reese Ellis! I'm a very happy mellow girl who just loves to get treats and love whenever I can! I'm so comfortable around new dogs you would think I knew them already! I wont hesitate to tell you when I need to go out or if you forgot to give me my after dinner treat. I love being around people and where the excitement is! I am truly a joy to look after!

Why Dogs Lick (Like) Us!
By Tori Levitt, Dolittle's Doghouse

From birth, puppies are licked by their Mom to waken them, groom
them and encourage their new life beginnings! Without question, her licking
begins the bonding process and establishes their life-line for future food and
comfort! (As the puppy matures, they learn that food will come out of Moms
mouth if they lick her first). Littermates lick each other which is also part of the family bonding that occurs within a normal dog pack.
Subsequently, I am convinced that a dog licking your face is simply her expression of affection and acceptance of you, her Pack Leader.  She
may be cleaning you (just like her Mom did to her) or just likes the taste of
your skin (o.k. dogs aren’t that picky, even if you just finished working
out!).  P.S. she may also be using her sense of smell to see how you’re feeling.
