Laguna Creek at East Beach
Laguna Creek at East Beach (Creeks Outreach Coordinator Liz Smith)
Ribbon Cutting Celebration Wednesday, November 16
Join Mayor Pro-Tem Bendy White and the Santa Barbara City Council for a ribbon cutting celebrating the completion of the Storm Water Infiltration Demonstration Projects at Quarantina Street, Plaza de Vera Cruz, and Alice Keck Park Memorial Garden.

Wednesday, November 16 at 11am
Meet at the corner of Ortega Street and Quarantina Street

More than 60,000 square feet of impermeable (hard) surfaces was removed and replaced with permeable pavers at three project sites:  the asphalt road and concrete sidewalks in the 700 and 800 blocks of N. Quarantina Street; the asphalt service road through through Plaza de Vera Cruz; and, the concrete sidewalks surrounding Alice Keck Park Memorial Garden.

The permeable pavers are designed to allow storm water (rain) and urban runoff to flow between the pavers and into the ground below rather than flowing into storm drains, creeks, and the ocean untreated.

Funding for this project was provided primarily through a grant agreement with the State Water Resources Control Board, and by hotel visitors through Measure B.
