Blues News You Can Use!
 Friday the 13th
Here we are nearly half way
through the first month of 2017. Personally I don't know whether to feel accomplished or just plain "freaked out" as it seems like so many things are moving along at a crazy pace already this year. Yes, that is a perspective that takes into account some personal bias and may not be the experience everyone is having so if you are finding a peaceful start to 2017 I suppose I would say call yourself lucky.  Primary to my focus in my role as an Ozark Blues Society board member is the important upcoming Road to Memphis Fundraiser.  It is a little over a week away.  Read on below to find out more including how to get your tickets in advance. Of course soon after that my husband and I are off to Memphis to represent OBS as volunteers at the International Blues Challenge...always an amazing (if not exhausting) time. Additionally, the board is in the planning stages for our upcoming annual meeting and board elections. Check out the article below for more information.  We also have the honor of supporting the Buffalo River Watershed Alliance fundraiser on January 29. Again, you will find more information in the article below.
And remember you can let me know if you have any ideas, comments or additions to the calendar. Just send them to me anytime at:

Ozark Blues Society
Annual Meeting
and
Board Elections
The Ozark Blues Society will hold it's annual meeting in early March 2017.  Elections will be held for the officer positions of President and Treasurer.  Officers serve for two year terms. To be included in this meeting (and to vote)
you must be a member of Ozark Blues Society so this might be a good time
to check if your membership is
current. Go HERE to sign up or update your membership.
A committee was formed at the January meeting to identify and nominate potential candidates for the board positions up for election.  For more information or to present a potential candidate, please contact Leah Spears-Blackmon

You have to open your mind. I like the ability to express myself in a deep way. It's the closest music to our humanity - it's like a folk music that rises up out of a culture.
