2017, hammered Braille & patina on copper on wood panel, metal and wood, 43.5x35x3.5 inches
|
| | | My interest in Braille began from a formal foundation, via the grid and geometry. Although that remains valid, its usage as a means of codified communication is now my primary focus. The combination of fine art, graphic communication and architecture has lead to my studying semiotics and cultural phenomena reflecting on the words of others - poets, writers, philosophers, politicians, etc. I consider myself the messenger presenting an optic and haptic experience, and the materiality of each piece as the conduit. Impairment, both physical and mental, persists as the constant thread in how we perceive, filter and accept information.
As stated by the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, Propositions, we shall say, are the sharable objects of the attitudes and the primary bearers of truth and falsity.
Enjoy!
