Three Generations of Quilters
When Dorothy Shank makes her yearly visit to Arizona she and her family plan to create several quilting projects together. She and her daughter, Alice Sutter have been working on projects together for years. Alice has been a valued employee of the Quilter's Store Sedona for over 14 years.

In the last few years, Alice's daughter, Rachel Capite, joined in on the project fun. Alice's son, Joshua Sutter soon followed. They are creating 150 to 200 "plates" out of a selected set of fabrics. The pattern they are using is "Dazzling Dresden Plate." Each artist/quilter creates their own unique plate even though they use the same fabrics. Dorothy, Alice and Rachel have quilts in different stages of completion. Rachel is hand quilting her appliques blocks just as her grandmother does. Joshua took a different approach than the rest and made his out of Star Wars fabric. His quilt was shown in the annual Quilt Show and the Sedona Library this year. He is currently creating another Star Wars inspired quilt.
Alice Sutter remarked, " It is a true joy to make quilts together as 3 generations working, having fun, and spending time together. We are grateful to Dorothy, 91 (mother and grandmother) for handing down the tradition of making quilts to the next generations."
