CEO Update
OGH Community Breakfast Series
I want to thank Tim Finan, Upper Allegheny Health System president and CEO, for inviting us to attend his Community Breakfast Series “Report to the Community” Wednesday at Olean General Hospital. Our CAC Director Lindsey Mapes and I attended along with several other staff members. Tim gave an update on the hospital’s 2016 accomplishments and performance and discussed trends and challenges faced by the hospital industry. On April 5 Lindsey, the CAC Law Enforcement Coordinator Mark Crosson and Denise O’Neil, director of the SAFE program at Olean General, will give a Community Breakfast Series presentation on “What Everyone Should Know About Sexual Assault.” Lindsey and Mark will share what services are provided at our STCAC and Denise will outline SAFE program services. Their presentation is free and open to the public. The Community Breakfast will begin at 8:15 a.m. and the hospital provides a complimentary breakfast to those attending beginning at 7:45 a.m. I encourage you or a member of your staff to attend. The hospital asks that those attending RSVP at least one week in advance by contacting Janene Dunn in the UAHS Marketing and Communications Office at (716) 375-6974 or at jdunn@uahs.org.
Adopt a Crib Campaign
I’m very excited to announce the launch of our Cribs for Kids Adopt a Crib campaign. The program will enable people and businesses to “adopt” a Pack ’n Play portable crib for $55 so we can then give the crib to parents in need. Our Cribs for Kids program has grown beyond our wildest dreams. Since we launched our Cribs for Kids Program in February of 2016, we’ve distributed 108 Pack ’n Plays and provided safe sleep information to more than 130 parents and caregivers. Finding sustainable funding for the program is difficult as many foundations are willing to provide only one year of support. Jeff Ciminesi, our Prevention Coordinator design the program. We’ve added Adopt a Crib pages to our website which allow people to donate or create an Adopt a Crib fundraising campaign. Please visit the site and share it with your staff. We’re encouraging groups to set up fundraisers or join together to purchase cribs. Every donor will be highlighted on our website and Facebook page and each crib can be labeled with the name of the company/person who sponsored it if they choose to do so. If you have questions or want more information, please contact Jeff at (716) 372-0614 or a jciminesi@sthcs.org.
