Vicarious Trauma Training
I’m working with Samantha Koury, LMSW, Project Manager at the Institute on Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care at the University at Buffalo to develop a vicarious trauma training program for EMS providers, first-responders and CAC MDT members. Our goal is to give professionals who respond to emotionally and psychologically stressful situations the tools and skills they need to build resiliency and prevent vicarious trauma from impacting their work and home lives. Vicarious trauma can negatively impact the well-being of providers and the quality of their services. Our plan is to create a training that will also include organizational strategies to respond to vicarious trauma when it occurs. This training will also help us meet National Children’s Alliance standards.
EMS Skills/Collaborative Protocols
This is a reminder that all EMS providers are required to submit their annual skills sheets to STEMS no later than the end of business today, Friday, June 30, 2017, to maintain their on-line credentials so they can continue to provide EMS services. I also wanted to remind all EMS providers that they need to be in compliance with the new Collaborative Protocol by tomorrow, July 1, 2017. Please visit Collaborative Protocol Rollout for more information on the steps EMS providers need to take to comply with the protocol. If you have any questions about the new protocols or EMS skills evaluations, please contact Abbe, the STEMS Program Coordinator, at or at (716) 372-0614.
