Canada’s best known and best loved blues outfit, The Legendary Downchild Blues Band celebrated their 45th Anniversary in style with the release of their Juno Award Blues Album of the Year (2014)Can You Hear The Music”. With such classic hits as “Flip Flop & Fly”, “I Got Everything I Need (Almost)” and “Shotgun Blues”, Downchild has had a major impact here at home and established serious credentials around the world alongside contemporaries, B.B. King, John Lee Hooker and Buddy Guy. With their signature Jump-blues style and sweet, infectious sound, it’s a sure bet your toes will be tapping and your hips swinging.
Downchild’s 17th album, “Can You Hear the Music” starts the way all things Downchild should; with the jump blues sound that makes you want to jump up and dance. And, as band leader Donnie Walsh will tell you himself, that’s the sound Downchild audiences all over the world want to hear. The tracks “Scattered” and "One in a Million", actually came together during the recording sessions.
Walsh and his band mates have won countless music industry awards, including a Juno Award for Best Roots and Traditional Album (1991). They also received a Juno Award nomination for Blues Album of The Year (2005) for their album “Come On In”. Yet, for all the hits and awards, The Legendary Downchild Blues Band is perhaps best known as the inspiration for the Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi hit film The Blues Brothers. In fact, Dan Aykroyd says, “There would be no Blues Brothers if it weren't for Downchild.
Always inspiring, The Legendary Downchild Blues Band is a Canadian institution and revered by blues fans around the world, with the icing being that they are sounding and performing better than ever!

The Roots Music Report's
Top 50 Blues Rock Album Chart
for the Week of Jul 1, 2017

Came in at #19 out of the blue today on the Roots Music report!

Album Notes
Jason Buie Bio
Vancouver Island based guitarist, singer-songwriter Jason Buie has been performing around Canada, USA, Europe, and Japan for the last 20 years. Along the way he has played and opened for blues legends Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, Mick Taylor, Jeff Healey, John Mayall, Robert Cray, The Powder Blues Band, Trooper, Jerry Doucette and others.
Jason’s music is a well-seasoned gumbo of blues, funk, rock and soul. His heart felt vocals, fiery guitar and charismatic stage presence captures the attention of critics and blues fans everywhere. His profile continues to grow since the debut release of his critically acclaimed 2002 “Urban Blues” and the 2009 "Live at The Blue Gator" cds. Both still get regular play on blues radio programs. In 2017 he is proud to release his third cd “Driftin’ Heart” consisting of 11 blues rockers of which 7 are originals.
Jason's passion for the Blues has led him to other projects too. He is a Co-Founder and Artistic Director for The White Rock Blues Society. And he promotes and produces many blues shows on Vancouver Island and in the Vancouver area.

Friday July 14, Club 240 is pleased to present Indigo. Indigo's last appearance at Club 240 may have been the best performance we have had to date. The crowd absolutely loved them.

The music of Indigo can be best described as a heated brand of up tempo, horn infused R&B, inspired by the groundbreaking R&B bands of the 60's, 70's, and 80's.

With Don Jones on guitar, Rob Marr on bass, J.T. Platt on sax, Peter Dalzell on keys, and Ron Wells on drums, you get the perfect blend of fearlessly spontaneous and marvelous grooves. Energizing the band on vocals is the fun loving attitude and smoky voice of Kenneth Whitney. Together, every performance is a showcase to the larger than life vocal and instrumental power of the band. Indigo will get you up off your seat and dancing the night away.
