Volunteer Highlights
We have had a BUSY few months working with volunteers - during the period of April through June we held four creek clean-ups, two beach clean-ups, and four storm drain marking events!

On April 2, Santa Barbara Family YMCA PILOTS Program participants joined us for a clean-up of Arroyo Burro, removing 153 pounds of trash and debris from the creek between Hope Avenue and State Street.

On May 17, Towbes Group staff removed 192 pounds of trash and debris from Mission Creek between State Street and Junipero Street. On May 31, Towbes Group joined us for a clean-up of Sycamore Creek, removing another 172 pounds between Yanonali Street and Indio Muerto.

On May 18, May 23, May 25, and June 1, Santa Barbara High School AP Environmental Studies students replaced a total of 226 storm drain markers in the San Roque neighborhood. On May 20 these hard working students removed 121 pounds of trash and debris from East Beach, and on May 30 they cleaned up Mission Creek from Pueblo Street to Islay Street, removing 215 pounds of trash and debris from the creek.

Finally on May 19, we worked with Santa Barbara Channelkeeper and Laguna Blanca School students to remove 25 pounds of trash and debris from Leadbetter Beach.
