CEO Update
STCAC Director Carrie Strawder
I want to welcome Carrie Strawder to the STHCS family as the new Director of the Southern Tier Child Advocacy Center. In choosing Carrie as the next CAC Director, the CAC Director Search Committee, which included members of the MDT, noted her strong background as a manager and supervisor. Committee members said that her strengths include being a diplomatic and fair supervisor and an enthusiastic leader. Carrie has 15 years of experience in the human services and health-care industries. She has served as a Safety Supervisor and Operations Director at Lakeshore Hospital in Irving, a Family Support Worker for the Mental Health Association in Cattaraugus County, a Family and Engagement Specialist at Chautauqua Opportunities and a Medicaid Service Coordinator at The Resource Center in Jamestown. A native of South Dayton, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Human Services and a Master’s Degree in Education from Ashford University. I want to thank the MDT Council members who served on the Search Committee: Allegany County DSS Commissioner Vicki Grant, Sheriff Department Captain Jordan Haines, Cattaraugus County District Attorney Lori Rieman and Olean Police Chief Jeff Rowley. I also want to thank Dr. Craig Zuckerman and Dr. Pam Salzmann who participated in the selection process.
STEMS Coordinator Alicia Broadbent
I also want to share that Alicia Broadbent will be our new STEMS Program Coordinator. Alicia joined STHCS in 2014 as a Program Assistant and has worked extensively with the STEMS program, most recently helping ensure EMS providers complete their annual skills evaluations so they can continue to serve as EMS providers. Alicia has a B.S. in Psychology with minors in Spanish, Biology and Business Administration from St. Bonaventure University and has recently graduated with her Master of Business Administration Degree from St. Bonaventure University. Her familiarity with the STEMS program and our mission will ensure a smooth transition. She is taking over for Abbe Kahm who is leaving STHCS to pursue her B.S. in Nursing at Bloomsburg University. Abbe joined STHCS in 2015 as prevention coordinator and launched our very successful Cribs for Kids Program and our Southern Tier Overdose Prevention Program. She became STEMS Program Coordinator in 2016 organizing our annual STEMS Spring Training Conference and drafting reports to local, regional and state EMS agencies. Please continue to send your emails to You can call Alicia at (716) 372-0614 if you have any questions.
