Emser Tile Celebrates Opening first EDC
West-Coast based Emser Tile has opened a 400K SF East Coast Distribution Center in CenterPoint Intermodal Center, in Suffolk. The state-of-the-art $16 million distribution center will manage product from Boston to Florida and will provide support to their other DC's in California and Texas.  VA Secretary of Commerce and Trade Todd Haymore, state legislators and area officials helped Emser representatives celebrate the opening with a Grand Opening - Ribbon Cutting ceremony at the facility.  Emser is one of the world's leading tile and natural stone producers. 
Newest ABC Store Opens
To better serve residents and visitors, the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control has opened its fifth store in Suffolk. The new store is located at 1457 N. Main Street, in the Farm Fresh anchored Suffolk Shopping Center.  The 1,500 SF store stocks a selection of approximately 600 items and is open Monday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday, from Noon to 6 p.m.  

PDCCC Workforce Development Courses Fall Catalog 
The Division of Workforce Development of Paul D. Camp Community College offers a variety of training and educational options to meet the needs of new and existing employers and their staff.  The Fall Catalog is available now, including information on courses such as:
  • Industrial Maintenance–Electrical & Instrumentation
  • NCCER Core - Safety, Construction Math, Hand and Power Tools, Construction Drawings, Materials Handling, and Communication and Employability Skills
  • Customized Training
  • Online Courses
Classes are offered at the Regional Workforce Development Center in Franklin, the Hobbs Suffolk Campus, and the PDCCC Site in Smithfield.  Workforce also offers lifelong learning education courses for professional and personal enrichment and licensure and certification preparation.
Taste of Suffolk is September 9th
11 a.m. ~ 5 p.m.
Taste of Suffolk is back in Downtown Suffolk for the 11th year! This annual street festival tradition will span Main Street from Finney Avenue to Washington Street. Enjoy specialty food items from local restaurants all over Suffolk and see all the goods and services that crafters, vendors and merchants have to offer. Taste of Suffolk has something for the whole family with an expanded children's area and live entertainment from Popwire, Wesley Spangler and The Janitors. Enjoy a petting zoo, contests and games, a beer garden, and a new vehicle exhibition.  
Homearama 2017
Homearama returns to Suffolk! Homearama will be at The Estates of Pitchkettle Farms for three fall weekends:  Oct. 20-22, Oct. 27-29 and Nov. 3-5.

Business Showcase - Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts
The Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts is located in the former high school in historic Downtown Suffolk.  The brick, three story, renovated center was built in 1922 and now hosts musical, theatrical and dance productions.  The 62,880 SF center features a 500-seat theater, art galleries, a ballroom and banquet hall and Mosaic, a gift shop, classrooms and an on-site restaurant that serves local, eclectic cuisine.
