SICD Pack 'n Play Donation
The Sudden Infant and Child Death Resource Center (SICD) has made a donation of 10 Pack ’n Play portable cribs with fitted sheets and safe sleep information to our Cribs for Kids program. SICD Regional Coordinator Jan Walkden called us earlier this week to let us know about the gift. Jan has been a member of our Child Health and Safety Team since we formed the team in 2010. She said the donation is in recognition of the good work our Cribs for Kids program and Child Health and Safety Team have done to ensure every infant and child in our region benefits from a safe sleep environment. Sadly, due to funding cuts the SICD resource center is closing and Jan will no longer be able to attend our CHST meetings. I want to thank Jan and the SICD for their support of our Cribs for Kids program.
I’m very happy to report that two new SAFE providers have joined the SAFE program at UPMC Chautauqua WCA in Jamestown. The program has also adopted a new hand-held, mobile colposcope. The system is lightweight and enables SAFE providers to capture photographic evidence as well as case notes and add them to an electronic medical record system. The new EVA (Enhanced Visual Assessment) System from Mobile ODT was reviewed at the UPMC Chautauqua WCA SAFE case review earlier this week. The EVA system enables SAFE providers to upload information from the exam directly into a patient’s medical record. It also automatically stores the information on an encrypted cloud-based system. SAFE Program Medical Director Dr. AnnMarie Zimmermann is planning to review the system with the possibility of using it at Olean General Hospital and Jones Memorial Hospital.
