STEMS Update
STEMS Coordinator Alicia Broadbent and I attended the Western Regional Emergency Medical Advisory Committee meeting Wednesday in Buffalo to review progress on EMS provider skills updates and the smooth adoption of the collaborative EMS protocols. We are also preparing to attend next week’s State Emergency Medical Services Council (SEMSCO) meeting as well. If there is anything emergency medical providers from regional hospitals or EMS agencies would like us to address with SEMSCO, please let us know at stems@sthcs.org or by calling 372-0614. We are also hosting our second EMS Leadership Academy, supported by the Southwestern Regional EMS Council, next Friday and Saturday. More than 30 EMS providers have registered to attend the training. The training is designed to provide up-and-coming EMS leaders with the skills and knowledge they need to enhance recruitment and retention.
Car Seat Safety Check
A free Car-Seat Safety Check and Kids’ Carnival will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kmart Riverwalk Plaza off Bolivar Road in Wellsville. Parents are encouraged to visit the event to ensure that their children’s car seats are properly installed. Our Prevention Coordinator Jeff Ciminesi is attending to provide education on our programs including Cribs for Kids and our safe sleep initiatives. The event will also feature games, prizes and a bounce house. The event is being held by Ardent Solutions, the University Police at Alfred State College and the New York State Police. I want to thank them for inviting us to attend and support this event.
