EMS Leadership Academy
We held our second successful EMS Leadership Academy class last Friday and Saturday for EMS providers. The training was presented by veteran EMS trainers Lisa Giruzzi and Robbie MacCue, the same trainers who presented our first EMS Leadership Academy in January. Based on participant survey results from January, the Southwestern Regional EMS Council urged us to host a second Leadership Academy and provided funding to support the event. EMS leaders from Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties attended the training. The EMS Leadership Academy is designed to give young up-and-coming EMS leaders the skills and techniques they need to boost recruitment and retention at their agencies. This training is part of our ongoing EMS Volunteer Recruitment and Retention project. Please visit our STHCS Facebook page to view more pictures from the training.
STHCS Building
I’m happy to report that our new STHCS office and training center is nearing completion. Finishing work both inside and outside the building is ongoing but I hope to have our certificate of occupancy in hand sometime next week. The building will be the home to our offices, a state-of-the-art distance-learning training center and additional break-out rooms and office space open to our partners and the community.  The goal was to create a space that will further our mission to improve the health and wellness of the rural communities we serve. I want to thank the STHCS Board of Directors for developing this vision for our future and supporting this project.
