The Ozark Blues Society's 2017 Blues Challenge is just a week away and with registration closed now we can say with confidence it will be an exciting night full of nearly non-stop music....blues acts showing you their best stuff and playing their hearts out! Read on below for the list of competitors as well as information about the event including the link to advance ticket sales. Also it's the final few days to submit your music to the Blues Foundation's Blues Music Awards competition. You will find the information for that competition below as well.
With outdoor music pretty much wrapped up for the year the calendar below tends to be a bit on the light side...but there is still a healthy and exciting music community in NWA so don't forget to keep checking the weekly calendar below.

Registration has closed and the challenge is on! Join us next Friday, October 27, 2017 at the Meteor Guitar Gallery in Bentonville as Ozark Blues Society hosts our annual Blues Challenge. And what a night it will be! We have a field of 6 for our solo/duo competition followed by 5 bands. The solo/duo acts will kick off the night with the first act beginning at 6:15pm, the band competition will immediately follow the solo/duo beginning at approximately 9:15pm. Due to the early start time, doors will now open at 5:30pm.

The Ozark Blues Society sponsored regional competition is run under the umbrella of our affiliate status with the Blues Foundation and is the first step for acts hoping to win locally and be sponsored to attend the 2019 International Blues Challenge. OBS uses the same format and scoring used at the International Blues Challenge held in Memphis in January.

This month's edition of the Blues Foundation's E-News included a reminder about the ongoing BMA submission process for recorded music. This contest is a level beyond the Best Self-Produced CD competition, however it also is open to all artists. Interested?
Read on for the official Blues Foundation information:
All Blues Musicians are invited to submit their recording(s) for consideration for a 2018 Blues Music Award. Music released between November 1, 2016 and October 31, 2017 is eligible. The submission process officially closes on October 24, 2017. You do not have to have your CDs already manufactured in order to fill out a submission form to submit your music. However, music must arrive in The Blues Foundation offices within two weeks of submission or of album release, whichever comes first, but no later than October 24, 2017. Music which does not arrive within the appropriate time deadlines, may be subject to increased registration fees. Link to Registration: Blues Music Award Submission
