This Sunday, November 5, 10:00 am

The first Sunday of November we celebrate All Saints Day, remembering loved ones who have died in the past year, and any year, and celebrating the “communion of saints” in the sacrament of holy communion.
You’re invited to bring a photograph of a loved one, framed or unframed, whom you want to remember that morning.

The Alki UCC treasury grew by $1,070 from the sale of indulgences last Sunday.
It’s not too late to reduce the time you or a loved one spend in Purgatory. Get in the spirit of corrupt practices that inspired the Protestant Reformation and help your church at the same time.
There are a few more of these treasured certificates available, and Pastor Diane is happy to sell you one this Sunday too.
Not feeling particularly guilty yourself? Buy one for your spouse or neighbor!

It's a Perfect Time to Join Our Choir
|
Have you been wishing you could sing with the choir but can’t commit long-term? Or thinking it might be something you’d enjoy, but don’t know if you can sing well enough? This Sunday the choir will begin rehearsing music for Advent and Christmas, so it’s a great time to give it a try, see if you like it, and it’s okay if you just join for the holiday season.
Rehearsals are after worship, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. See Marshan if you have questions, or just drop in and give it a try.

Given our current financial constraints, we won’t be hiring a new Children’s Ministry Coordinator to replace Candi Terao for a while. We’ll be depending on volunteers to carry out our Church School program for the forseeable future.
Fortunately, we have a good, user-friendly curriculum and several experienced teachers who already commit one Sunday a month to our children; we just need three or four more people willing to be with the children during worship once every four-six weeks, and we’ll be fine.
Please let Pastor Diane know if you feel called to be one of those people!

Movie Night!
This coming Wednesday, November 8, 7:00 pm at Pastor Diane and Mary’s
We decided to watch “Hidden Figures” together, followed by a short discussion. We’re sure many of you have seen it by now, but it’s different to watch as a group and discuss in light of what we’re learning about racism and white privilege. Caution – the TV room can’t hold a lot of people, but the picture and sound are great, and we’d rather be in a home than in the church parlor.
So please RSVP to Diane if you plan to attend so we can arrange the room accordingly!
Please arrive by 7:00 pm; the “play” button will be pressed at 7:15 pm sharp! Popcorn provided; BYOB.

Casey Johnson and Nekya Young have found a house to rent in Burien and are moving in this weekend. After losing everything in Hurricane Harvey, the two are starting over here in Seattle, where Casey could got a job at Denny Middle School. Your generous donations, totaling $2400, has been used toward that huge first month-last month-security deposit amount needed in order to sign a lease. Many thanks to all who helped out, and especially to Laura and Shelley Petrie for taking them into their own home these last six weeks and getting us involved.
