NYGives Day Success
I’m very excited to report that we won second-place and a $1,000 prize for the most unique donors during the NYGives Day fundraiser on Giving Tuesday (November 28) organized by the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation (CRCF). Between our 33 donors and the prize, we raised $2,050 for EMS education. Our goal is to add an ambulance simulator to our new STHCS Training Center. We received donations from EMS providers, doctors, STHCS Board members, STHCS staff and their friends and family members. It was truly an eclectic group who gave because they know the importance of EMS education in saving lives. I want to thank everyone who donated to STHCS, CRCF for promoting the event and STHCS Prevention Coordinator Jeff Ciminesi and STEMS Coordinator Alicia Broadbent for setting up our NYGives Day page. This was a wonderful event.
CCHD Achieves National Accreditation
I want to congratulate Dr. Kevin Watkins, Cattaraugus County Public Health Director and a STHCS Board member, for the Cattaraugus County Health Department (CCHD) achieving national accreditation by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB). Of the 3,000 public health departments in the United States, CCHD is one of only 211 to achieve PHAB accreditation. To receive accreditation, the health department underwent a rigorous, multi-faceted, peer-reviewed assessment process that ensured it meets or exceeds quality standards and measures. This national recognition is a reflection of the high-quality of public health protection and care provided in our rural community. Congratulations to everyone at the Cattaraugus County Health Department for achieving national accreditation!
