OCFS Safe Sleep Support
During this week’s Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) CFRT quarterly conference call, OCFS said it will provide Pack 'n Plays and additional safe sleep kits to distribute to parents through our Cribs for Kids program. The safe sleep kits are similar to the ones Olean General Hospital, UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital and Jones Memorial Hospital distributed during the OCFS Safe Sleep Kits Pilot Program. The kit includes a Halo SleepSack, a magnet, a door hanger, a mirror cling and a Sleep Baby, Safe and Snug board book. Each parent who receives a Pack 'n Play and safe sleep kit through our Cribs for Kids program will also receive infant safe sleep training. We just received a shipment of 12 Pack 'n Plays with fitted sheets from OCFS yesterday. I want to thank OCFS for their support of our infant safe sleep initiatives and for the many ways they encourage safe sleep for infants in our region and across the state.
AEMT Class
I’m happy to announce that we’ll hold our first Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) class in our new Training Center beginning on January 3. The class continues until June 21 and will allow EMS providers to become AEMT-level practitioners. We’re partnering with Olean General Hospital to offer this class and already have 35 people registered. I want to thank Olean General Hospital for being the core sponsor for the AEMT class and for bringing this life-saving training to EMS providers in our region. Providers who are still interested in enrolling can contact STEMS Program Coordinator Alicia Broadbent at (716) 372-0614 ext. 207 or at stems@sthcs.org. If you have a training or event you would like to host at our Training Center, please contact us.
