CEO Update
Regional Paramedic Class
Our Regional Paramedic Class is coming to a close. This rigorous, 14 month long program started last January and was delivered in Olean and Jamestown via distance learning. It has taken a lot of time and hard work from both the students and instructors to come this far. Class participants completed their New York State skills testing on Monday and Thursday night. I want to thank Mickey Forness, Todd Reisner, Tim Richardson, Dr. Walters and Phil Wilson for teaching this class. We are proud of the students in this class who made the commitment to this program and have taken this step to be better prepared to serve their communities. As this course ends, we are already looking forward to our next course offerings. Later today we will be hosting a faculty meeting for our course instructors. At this meeting, we will be looking forward to 2019, making decisions and planning our training schedule.
Distance Learning Technology Grant Update
I’m excited to report that we are moving forward on the distance learning technology project that was made possible through the USDA Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant. We are working our way through the procurement process right now. Several weeks ago we released our request for proposal to contractors in the region who supply videoconferencing equipment and infrastructure. We received several competitive bids and are working to evaluate them and select the company that will be the right fit for our project. Next week we will be meeting with Rick Gordon, our regional USDA General Field Representative, to talk about project details and our responsibilities under the grant. This project will be a major boost to the distance learning capacity of our communities and we are looking forward to the rich collaborations and learning opportunities that will come from this project.
