Cadaver Lab
Last Wednesday providers in the AEMT and Critical Care classes had the opportunity to attend instruction at the cadaver lab at the University of Buffalo. Providers had a chance to learn how to perform an intubation and other skills while working with the cadavers. This gave providers a chance to learn by using a hands-on approach. We have made this opportunity available to providers over the last several years and it is always an incredibly beneficial experience. I want to thank UB-MD Emergency Medicine Division for partnering with us to make this learning opportunity available for our providers.
Child Health and Safety Team Expansion
I’m pleased to report that Chautauqua County will be joining the Southern Tier Child Health and Safety Team in the coming months. The Child Health and Safety Team began as the Allegany County Child Fatality review team in 2010, with Cattaraugus County joining the team in 2013. Combining the efforts of Allegany and Cattaraugus counties has led to many productive projects and ideas that wouldn’t have been possible if the counties weren’t working together. We are excited to bring Chautauqua County to the CHST. Combining the efforts of all three counties will allow us to increase the impact of our prevention efforts by bringing new resources, ideas and partnerships to the table.
