NYS Office of Rural Health Article
Karen Madden, director of the Charles D. Cook Office of Rural Health in the New York State Department of Health was featured in a recent Rural Health Information Hub article. The article featured information about the strong system of rural health networks across New York State and how the Charles D. Cook Office of Rural Health works to support those networks. It also details the role that Karen played in the creation of National Rural Health Day. I want to thank Karen for her leadership and congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition.
Sexual Assault Awareness Month
To recognize April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month, we have begun a mini-campaign on our Facebook page to promote awareness of sexual assault. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be sharing posts that give facts about sexual assault, define consent and help people know what to do if they or someone they know is a victim of a sexual assault. Each of these posts will also remind the community that our SAFE program was created to support survivors of sexual assault. These informational posts were designed to be easily shared at the workplace or even in a bathroom stall. If you are interested in promoting sexual assault awareness month, the fliers are available on our website. I want to thank all of our SAFE providers and Jones Memorial Hospital, Olean General Hospital and UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital for providing this needed service for our communities.
