Check out this great version of Randy Newman's classic, 'Louisiana'.

Louisiana 1927
What has happened down here is the winds have changed
Clouds roll in from the north and it start to rain
Rained real hard and rained for a real long time
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangeline
The river rose all day, the river rose all night
Some people got lost in the flood
Some people got away alright
The river have busted through, clear down to Plaque mines
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangeline
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tyrin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
President Coolidge came down in a railroad train
With a little fat man with a notepad in his hand
President say"little fat man, isn't it a shame?"
What the river has done to this poor cracker's land
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tyrin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away

Note from The Editor

The society will keep busy with co promotions with the Blue Frog Studios and are reviewing other venue options. After reviewing the feasibility of conducting an International Blues Society event to select a solo/duo act and or a Band to sponsor for the 2019 IBC we have decided not to participate this year.

We do plan to have a couple of house shows with some top tier blues artists who are coming through town this summer and fall. More details to follow.

I'm often asked how one joins the White Rock Blues Society and the answer is quite simple. By subscribing to this newsletter you are a member of the society. We have over a thousand receiving the Bluesletter each week. We don't ask for dues. We only ask that you help support our aim of keeping the blues alive by attending our events or any other events supporting the blues genre. That simple.

We will be supporting the Mount Baker R&B Festival this summer as always and the Las Vegas "Blues Bender" in September because they are great events. Another great event is the Naniamo Blues Festival that brings top tier artists to the West Coast.

That's it for now.

The Sound Shifters - Promising New Musical Project

Here's a shout from well know local artist Randy Schultz who has been entertaining folks in our area for many years.

Hello Rod;

I am in a new musical project. The Sound Shifters.

Back with my buddy Tony Rees, from long ago Blues Caboose days (’90’s). Back with my drummer from Mojo Zydeco (’05-’12) coupled with local high-energy Rob Harvey on bass.

What kind of music? Well sort of a blending of Blues Caboose and Mojo Zydeco- not surprising, as well as the revival and re-arrangements of more obscure cover songs hand-picked from the last 40 years. The result? A good-time, let’s dance live music experience.

Our debut show was March 30 at the Crescent Beach Legion. We are playing there on a regular, once per month basis.

April 21
May 26
June 23
July 21
All Saturdays

Further dates to be set on the same Saturday of the month TBA.

We feature a guest performer as part of each show, with the one for the next show in April being blues harmonica guy Frisco Reed.

Our intention is to build a local scene at this venue where people know they will be well entertained at the modest cost of $10.00.

Tickets are at the door.

Hoping you are well and enjoying music!
Cheers!

Randy Schultz
