Common Understanding, Goals the Focus of ASC 18-1

One hundred seven Fellows graduated from the Advanced Security Cooperation (ASC) Course 18-1 May 2, with a newly-developed common understanding of the challenges and opportunities to security in the region and enhanced networks of cooperation. U.S. and international Fellows from 37 locations took part in this course’s latest iteration (ASC 18-1) March 29 – May 2. Click here for the full article.
DKI APCSS hosts Indo-Pacific Strategy Workshop
U.S. Indo-Pacific Group PhotoDiscussing the principles for a free and open Indo-Pacific region formed the basis of a high-level workshop on “U.S. Strategy in the Indo-Pacific.” The workshop provided a platform for informal discussion between senior leaders in the region and senior U.S. administration officials involved in developing the Indo-Pacific strategy, which complements the U.S. National Security Strategy and the U.S. National Defense Strategy. Exceptional DKI APCSS Employees Recognized at Prestigious Annual FEB Ceremony
DKI APCSS FEB Awardee Group photoNearly 30 employees, including one departmental team of the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies, took a rare break from their duties to be honored Apr. 27 at the 62nd Honolulu-Pacific Federal Executive Board Excellence in Federal Government Awards ceremony at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam Officer’s club. DKI APCSS Employees Recognized at FEB Awards. Two of the awardees were interviewed about their awards and posted on Facebook. Click on their names to see the interviews. Regional Engagement Operations Assistant Nelly Ximena Williams and Management and Program Analyst Massaih Ali speak about their selections.
Maritime Security Challenges 2018 Conference
Early registration now available for Maritime Security Challenges 2018 Conference, October 15-18 in Victoria, BC.  DKI APCSS is co-hosting the workshop with the Navy League of Canada and the Royal Canadian Navy.   It will feature several DKI APCSS faculty and alumni as speakers. Dr. Saira Yamin and Cmdr. Tuan Nguyen supported the Cooperation Against Transnational Threats   (CATT 18) workshop organized by the United States Special Operations Command of the Pacific (SOCPAC) in Cebu, Philippines, April 16-26, 2018. 
  
Navy Lt. Cmdr. Sean Washington left DKI APCSS in April for military reassignment. Dr. Jeffrey Reeves and USCG Lt. Cmdr. Dustin Williams are also departing DKI APCSS.
