Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation Grant
I’m pleased to report that we received a $51,000 grant from the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation to support our Southern Tier Distance Learning Project. The Ralph C. Wilson Foundation was established in 2015 with a mandate to continue Ralph C. Wilson’s legacy of generosity, healthy risk taking and collaboration. The Foundation supports projects in four focus areas; children and youth, young adults and working families, caregivers and livable communities. Funds from the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation will be used for distance-learning equipment and also will support non-equipment related expenses that will allow the distance-learning project to succeed, such as marketing and staffing. We are grateful that the Ralph C. Wilson Foundation recognizes the role that distance-learning plays in helping our community members obtain training at the AEMT and paramedic level that can lead to sustainable employment in the health care field.
USDA RUS DLT Grant
We have begun working on our application for a second round of funding through the USDA Rural Utilities Service Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant. This year we are focused on expanding the capacity of our distance-learning network in the Southern Tier by adding three end-user sites. We anticipate the sites will be located in Irving in Northern Chautauqua County, the West Valley Volunteer Fire Department in Northern Cattaraugus County and in the Wellsville area in Southern Allegany County. New equipment at these three sites will increase the availability and reliability of distance-learning delivered training to EMS providers in all three counties and will positively impact the quality of care delivered to community members in our region.
