EMS Week
Next week is EMS Week and we are excited to celebrate all of the great work our EMS providers do in our communities. There will be a number of special events to recognize EMS providers throughout the region. Jones Memorial Hospital will be hosting a “Care of Newborn by EMS” presentation by Dr. Kassas with dinner provided on Wednesday. On Friday, May 25, Jones Memorial Hospital will be holding a cookout for Allegany County EMS providers. UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital will be holding a cookout for Chautauqua County EMS providers on Thursday, May 24. Olean General Hospital will hold a cookout on Wednesday, May 23 and Thursday, May 24. We plan to be at each event and look forward to celebrating our providers. This is just a small token of appreciation for the amazing work our EMS providers do all year long. Director of the Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems
At the program agency meeting prior to the State EMS Council meeting in Troy, NY this week, I had the opportunity to meet with the new director of the Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems, Ryan Greenberg. Prior to his appointment to this position, he served as a paramedic for 25 years. We are excited to begin working with him to continue the growth of EMS in the Southwestern Region. He is very interested in hearing from providers and has kicked off a listening tour to gain feedback. He asked us two questions, “If you could change one thing about EMS, what would your wish be?” and “What is one thing that would keep you in EMS for at least another 10 years?” We are looking forward to working with Director Greenberg and are hoping to have him visit the Southwestern Region soon. I invited him to attend our June or August Council meeting.
Stephanie Green
I want to thank Stephanie Green for her to service to STHCS as our New York State of Health Insurance Navigator. Stephanie has helped hundreds of individuals in our community access affordable health insurance since she started in 2011. We often received positive feedback about how well Stephanie handled particularly complex applications for individuals who needed insurance. I want to wish Stephanie well as she moves on to a new position with Elantas.
