USDA DLT Grant
We are putting the finishing touches on our application for a second round of funding through the USDA Rural Utilities Service Distance Learning and Telemedicine Grant. We hope to have the application submitted next week. If funded, this grant will allow us to expand our distance learning network by placing new end-user sites at Jones Memorial Hospital in Allegany County, the West Valley Volunteer Hose Company in Cattaraugus County, and the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation Volunteer Fire Department in Chautauqua County. We are also applying for funds to increase the capacity of our bridging service so we can host up to 15 sites at once and record the instruction that is delivered. We have put together a strong application, and are hopeful that the USDA will recognize the need for distance learning delivered education in our rural communities.
Memorial Day
I want to wish everyone in the STHCS family a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend. I know that many of you have family members or friends currently serving in the military or served in the military yourself. As we remember the sacrifices of the men and women who gave their all to protect our country, please also take a moment and remember those who are still far from home fighting to keep our country safe.
