Leadership Cattaraugus Opioid Roundtable
Last Tuesday, our Program Development Coordinator, Jeff Ciminesi, participated in a Leadership Cattaraugus roundtable discussion on the impact of the opioid epidemic. Leadership Cattaraugus brings together future leaders of the area and helps them develop the skills they will need to work more effectively for the betterment of all the people in Cattaraugus County. He was joined by Mary O’Leary, Director of Cattaraugus County Department of Community Services; Mike Prutsman, Executive Director at the Council on Addiction Recovery Services (CAReS); and Jené Gardner, Director of Clinical Services at CAReS. This was a great opportunity to share information with up-and-coming leaders in the community about the coordinated efforts of organizations in Cattaraugus County to decrease stigma, support recovery and end the opioid epidemic. I’d like to thank current Leadership Cattaraugus participant Denise Greeley of Cattaraugus Community Action for inviting us to contribute to this valuable discussion.
EMS Skills
We've been busy over the last couple of weeks working with our EMS providers to complete the requirement for annual didactic and clinical skills credentialing. All EMS agencies must have their providers demonstrate competence with required skills with a WREMAC-approved preceptor. This requirement ensures that EMS providers maintain skills to safely provide care in emergency situations. We plan to have 100% compliance by our agencies by the June 30 deadline. I want to thank all of the agencies for working with us to compile and submit all of the required paperwork and for all of the work they do to ensure high-quality prehospital care is provided in the community.
