This event is a fundraiser for Homes of Hope Orphanage in India. In Balance Yoga will be leading a Service Yoga Retreat, “Kunga Journeys”, to this orphanage in India over VT Spring Break March 2019. 100% of the donations from this weekend will go towards facilitating sewage and water infrastructure as well as the purchase of toilets for the 11th location of the orphanage in Northeast India. In just two Kunga Fests, we have raised over $10K, completing a counseling room and buying over 40 new beds. Our goal this festival is to raise $4,500 to contribute to the $8,000 total for the project. Donations will be accepted during the FREE YOGA WEEKEND, and anyone wishing to donate who cannot make it to this event may call IBY at (540) 961- 1030.
Why Yoga? Yoga challenges the body and calms the mind while providing a sense of relaxation and rejuvenation, and the postures of yoga allow practitioners to work through mental blockages and to open the heart. There is a style of yoga to suit everyone, regardless of age, body type or fitness level. Yoga Fest offers a great introduction to the benefits of yoga for life! This is an opportunity for budding yogis to experience first-hand how yoga can enrich their lives, and for experienced yogis to take their practices to the next level. In Balance Yoga provides the highest quality yoga instruction in a relaxed environment and is dedicated to serving the community through yoga.
Kunga is a Rwandan word meaning “to serve” or “to help,” and IBY donates 5% of the proceeds of every Kunga Yoga class on our schedule to charity in order to raise awareness and funds for underserved populations. Certified teachers guide students of all levels safely through their yoga practices with ease and grace, encouraging them to move with that same grace and awareness in their everyday lives. Throughout the year, IBY holds 200 Hour and 300 Hour level teacher trainings, workshops, musical guests, fundraisers for non- profit organizations, retreats and professional trainings in the healing arts.
Come on out and move at Kunga Fest this November 9-11! With your help and support, In Balance Yoga Studio can continue to share the practice of yoga and service to our community and charities at home and abroad.

The Christina Phipps Foundation fosters the use of yoga as part of the restorative and rehabilitative process following breast cancer surgery. CPF teachers are trained to recognize that such surgery will often result in lingering pain and a reduced range of motion. Teachers bring a gentle yoga approach to each of their students &
remain sensitive to individual limitations.
Thank you to Blacksburg Battles Cancer for the grant to offer this program to our community. This program is for certified yoga teachers to receive a free training to offer gentle yoga to cancer patients, survivors and cancer caretakers in exchange for each student to volunteer to teach these classes in the community at no charge to these populations once certified.
