Brain Injury Training for EMS Providers

We held an Understanding Brain Injury seminar for local EMS providers Monday, Nov. 12 in partnership with the Brain Injury Association of NYS. I’d like to thank Margo Singer, Brain Injury Association Program Coordinator, for doing a great job leading the informative session between here and our distance-learning sites in Wellsville and Gerry. Margo focused on pediatric traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and how their treatment differs from adults, as well as challenges in the continuum of care and different programs available to assist survivors of TBI.

About 40 attendees participated here in Olean and at the satellite sites. I’m happy our programming can now reach so many people at great distances.

Support EMS Training on NY Gives Day

NY Gives Day is right around the corner -- Tuesday, Nov. 27. On a day meant to help all nonprofits fulfill our missions to help our communities, I invite everyone to support our pursuit of lifesaving EMS training equipment. Contributions to STHCS that day will help offset the enormous cost of a Gaumard Trauma HAL high-fidelity simulation manikin. This high-tech model brings intense realism to EMS training in scenarios our providers see often in our rural area.

Small gifts add up to a make a big impact. You can donate now or during the NY Gives Day event. EMS providers who give will automatically be entered in a drawing to win a free registration to the STEMS Spring Training on April 26-27, 2019 or a Stop the Bleed kit. If you’d like to donate, please click here. I sincerely thank everyone ahead of time for your support!
