A big thanks to the Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation for funding our Stop the Bleed program. With this grant, we will partner with Mercy Flight of WNY to purchase 31 bleeding-control kits for placement at strategic locations in Cattaraugus County. These lifesaving kits, which include items like tourniquets and packing gauze, will be available based on need to entities that participate in training. By leveraging additional outside funding, staff from STHCS and Mercy Flight are able to provide these trainings in the community for free. If you’d like to schedule a training, please contact STEMS Coordinator Alicia Broadbent at stems@sthcs.org.
Stop the Bleed was founded in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in hopes of providing more equipment in public places and training to prevent deaths from mass violence, occupational disasters and other severe injuries. In any scenario, we aim to continue building community capacity to respond.
