Regional Paramedic Program Open House
Our Regional Paramedic Program Open House was held Tuesday, Dec. 4. I’m happy to report it was well attended between our Training Center here in Olean and ALSTAR EMS in Jamestown. Attendees toured the training facilities and heard from our Paramedic Program instructors and past graduates. We also demonstrated the distance-learning technology that will connect sessions between here and Jamestown. Congratulations to Valarie Gregory, who was the lucky winner of a free EMS jump bag!

We should have a strong cohort as the 14-month program begins in January. It’ll be exciting to build emergency response capacity in our communities with a new group of certified EMS providers. The deadline to apply is Dec. 14. Those interested can click here to apply.
Stroke Preparedness for EMS Providers
Last night’s Stroke Education for EMS Providers training was a great success. I’d like to thank Dr. Vaijayantee Belle, a neurologist from Olean General Hospital, for leading a terrific session on emergency stroke treatment. We utilized our distance-learning technology to reach over 40 participants between our Training Center here and at remote sites Gerry, Jamestown, Wellsville and Cuba. Time is of the utmost importance during a stroke, so we’re happy to help on this important topic.
