The Red Moon: Lunar Eclipse in Leo
“Keep some room in your Heart for the unimaginable.”
“If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy, don't hesitate. Give in to it.”
 (Mary Oliver)
The heart of Leo shines like the Sun when filled with the burning fire of the imagination. Seized by the spirit of creation that takes hold of the wild heart in each one of us, it guides us towards recognizing what makes us as unique as the glowing rays of sunlight.
As this lunar eclipse come to bloom, the Moon in Leo will encounter Uranus, ruler of Aquarius where the Sun will be, disposing of the Leo Moon, and it will blow a wind carrying unexpected news, surprising insights and experiences. Keeping ourselves rooted in the soil like trees, and flexible like bamboo will help us navigate the exciting and unpredictable energy of this eclipse when the Moon will be obscured by the Earth shadow as she`ll turn ruby red in the night sky.
An open and non-judgmental attitude towards experimenting might be wise, as it sometimes leads to discoveries that we might not have imagined at first. Take the Chinese alchemists for example that around the 800AD, were likely to experimenting with saltpeter, sulfur, and charcoal to create the recipe for eternal life and to cast away evil spirits. They did not find it, rather they created gunpowder then used for fireworks that like volcanic explosions that shoot incandescent lava in the sky, shine bright like blooming flowers made of evanescent light.
A bit of an explosive mix, this eclipse is both the first of 2019 and the last of the Aquarius/Leo axis that begun on August 2016. The emphasis on Leo and its connection with the heart, love, children, creative projects, and self-expression will highlight again what makes your heart beating faster and thriving? For Leo yearns for something more than the usual.  In the words of Mary Oliver  hides a Leonine heart “you breathing just a little and calling it a life?
Under the light of the Red Moon there might be unexpected sparkles and flare, shaking up things up once more for Uranus represents the maverick with groundbreaking ideas and plans that bring changes. This eclipse might symbolize sudden opportunities, new encounters, and a flash of insight that might open the door to new dimensions of your life. What might be coming to consciousness might be great for some, or might be jarring for others. It might shake up your plans, and at the same time, it might give you new horizons to explore or contemplate and perhaps pursue, horizons that are as vast as the infinite starry heavens that Uranus presides over.
While what comes to light at the lunar eclipse might feel exciting and unsettling,  it is also wise to let the dust settle to be able to see clearly.  Just as the light of the Moon is obscured,  so our inner emotional barometer and sense of awareness might be a bit out of order.
The eclipse in a square to Uranus might constellate a time filled with unpredictability, which may also symbolize mood swings, a sense of unease and restlessness, impatience. Taking action might be blocked by some kind of resistances, delays or simply unfolding at a much slower pace than wanted. (Transiting Mars in Aries disposes of Uranus in Aries, as he will be squared and slowed down by Saturn in Capricorn).
Assisting us with this planetary weather is the conjunction of the two greater benefics Venus and Jupiter in Sagittarius, squaring Neptune in Pisces. The greater benefics in their encounter in the sky are like holder of a burning torch pointing towards the future. Sagittarius symbolizes journeys of the mind and of the body that we might take to explore new destinations, one of which is called Hope which Sag so often sees somewhere not too far on the horizon.   And once we return back from these journeys, we may have changed and put a distance between us and what we might be leaving behind at this eclipse, for eclipses mark new beginnings but also endings and letting go.
As the Moon will slowly turn red, she will be visible in the night between January 20 and 21 in North and South America, and Western parts of Europe and Africa. I will encourage you to take the time to witness this celestial journey that for endless time has inspired a sense of awe and astonishment that evoke the feelings that we all experience during eclipse periods.
And you might take some time to meditate and engage with the energy of Leo, you may reflect on events of last Summer 2018 as new developments might be taking place that relates back to that time.
To prepare and to be in resonance with this energy, you might want to have a candle or sit by the fire, for this is the element which Leo belongs to and that evoke the raw and creative energy of the Sun.
You may unleash your imagination and allow yourself to honor what might be coming to light at this eclipse and hold in your awareness all the possibilities that might be floating through your heart and mind for Leo knows no fear and love to glow in the sunlight.
Last, you may draw inspiration and visualize your inner sun, shining and beating inside your heart, emitting warmth and waves of courage all through your bodily self, carrying you forward in this great new journey and facing whatever challenges might arise.
As you fill your heart with visions and love, the great words of Mary Oliver, inspire us to meditate on that fruitful source of energy that is within us all and out:
Have you ever seen
in your life
more wonderful

than the way the sun,
every evening,
relaxed and easy,
floats toward the horizon

and into the clouds or the hills,
or the rumpled sea,
and is gone–
and how it slides again

out of the blackness,
every morning,
on the other side of the world,
like a red flower

streaming upward on its heavenly oils,
say, on a morning in early summer,
at its perfect imperial distance–
and have you ever felt for anything
such wild love–
do you think there is anywhere, in any language,
a word billowing enough
for the pleasure

that fills you,
as the sun
reaches out,
as it warms you...

Let your inner sun guide you home to your creative and beating heart, and let this time reveal once more what fulfills the inner Lion that you then might want to share with the world.
