This Sunday, Worship at 10:00 am
|
This Sunday, we welcome The Rev. Bill Kirlin-Hackett, who notes that:
"The service celebrates the Baptism of our Lord, reflecting the words of Isaiah 43 and Luke 3, which are the Scriptures before us. It is the season of Epiphany, where God is illuminated and seen afresh, made manifest among us with the promises of new life.”
Pastor Bill has directed the Interfaith Task Force on Homelessness (ITFH) since 2004. Fiscally hosted by St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Bellevue, the ITFH works in King County (and beyond) to “create the political will to end homelessness,” largely via advocacy, education, capacity-building within faith organizations, and direct service. ITFH's current work revolves around persons living in vehicles, and passing State Legislation clarifying the rights of faith organizations to host the homeless on their property.
Rev. Kirlin-Hackett was ordained in 1985 and served congregations in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America until 1998. In 2009 he joined the United Church of Christ. He is a Covenant Minister at Wayside United Church of Christ (UCUCC), Federal Way, as the ITFH Director. His wife, Susan, is clergy at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lake Stevens. His family includes 1 son, a daughter-in-law, and two grandsons, 6 and 1.75, who live in Auburn.

March 2 is a mere two months away, just enough time for you to find a great mask or fabulous outfit for our annual gala.
It’s fundraising fun, and we’re hard at work making plans. As always, it will be a lovely night of dining, dancing, and bidding on awesome auction items.
This Sunday, your Gala Team will be in the parlor during coffee hour. We can sign you up for tickets and answer your questions.
And there’s more! We’re looking for a fortunate few to join the team and experience the joy of volunteering. We’ll have a short meeting toward the end of coffee hour, also this Sunday, for anyone who’d like to hear more.
Your grateful MG Team, Charlie Hinckley and Julia Peeler

We must let the city know how strongly we feel about keeping them in their home!
Please attend a critical meeting of the Westside Interfaith Network (WIN) to advocate for the camp (our friends!) to stay on Myers Way. Tiny House volunteers, choir members — EVERYONE — needs to attend this meeting to be a true show of force of love and support for the camp. PLEASE ATTEND!

"Taking Down the Greens" this Sunday After Worship
|
Kudos again to our Advent Team, who did such an amazing job bringing our Tree theme to life and with decorating the building.
Now, it’s time to put the greens away.
Please plan on staying a few minutes after worship to pack up the garlands and get them back in storage.
Speaking of the beautiful decorations, there are some free poinsettias available for you to take home from the stunning altar display we enjoyed through Christmas.

Saturday, January 19
3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. RSVPs needed.
The choir is kicking off 2019 with our all-hands workshop. We hope the later start provides an opportunity to join in the Women's Anniversary March downtown.
It will be a time of singing, gathering new music, getting schedules, revisiting our choir agreements, and sharing whatever we bring to eat. How could it be better?
For singers who have been wanting to join, it's the absolute best time to get acquainted.
Please contact Jane Gunwaldsen for all the details. We'll be so happy to have you!
