|FROM WILMA: Yesterday someone commented on my new hairstyle - “the windblown look”. The wind has not only played havoc with hairstyles, but with our landscapes and structures. In my front yard limbs were broken from a large Pfitzer Juniper that I propagated from a small cutting many years ago when I was studying Horticulture at Haywood Community College. Pictured is our team replacing the covering on a greenhouse at the Garden Center - New Year’s Eve winds had ripped the original so badly it couldn’t be salvaged.|
In between rainy, windy, and sometimes snowy days, there are usually pleasant ones in January. On a nice day earlier this week, it felt good to spend time outside doing some light pruning. It also gave me a chance to make mental ideas for new plantings in the spring.
Seeds are beginning to arrive - the Garden Shop and Tropical Greenhouse are cheery and inviting! A new shipment of Tropicals from Florida has arrived - Stop by and browse!
