Community Health Needs Assessment at OGH
I attended the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) Steering Committee data walk meeting last Friday at Olean General Hospital (OGH). We recapped the focus groups convened to this point, including the EMS focus group we hosted at STHCS in January. The insights gained will guide the new Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) in Cattaraugus County for the next several years. I’ll keep you posted on the progress.

I’d like to thank the Cattaraugus County Health Department and OGH for collaborating on this effort to engage dozens of local health care stakeholders and hundreds of community members. The hard work will be worth it for our communities.
PECC Multi-State Learning Collaborative
Last week, New York State participated in the multi-state learning collaborative in Austin, Texas for the Pediatric Emergency Care Coordinator Learning Collaborative Demonstration Project. Despite the weather not cooperating and after the cancellation of travel plans, PECC Coordinator Abbe Mostowy, STEMS Coordinator Alicia Broadbent and I managed to teleconference into the sessions of this Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) project. Martha Gohlke, Health Program Administrator & EMSC Program Manager from NYSDOH Bureau of EMS and Trauma Systems (BEMSTS), was able to make the trip to Austin and represent NYS in the collaborative meeting.

I would like to thank the EMSC Innovation and Improvement Center for making participation via teleconferencing possible, and Martha for representing our efforts on the NYS PECC program. Great progress has been made on this project. More information can be found at
