Rev. Terry Teigen to Lead Lenten/Easter Worship and Provide Pastoral Care
We are happy to announce that the Lenten Design team is working with Rev. Terry Teigen, who will be Alki UCC's visiting pastor for Lent and through Easter. In addition to leading worship, he is available for pastoral care during that period.

Lent begins with Ash Wednesday this week on March 6 and ends on Maundy Thursday, April 18.

Rev. Terry Teigen is a retired UCC minister who lives in West Seattle. He served congregations in the Puget Sound region. His last position was as Associate Spiritual Care Director at Horizon House, a retirement community on First Hill. Terry and his spouse, Martha are the happy grandparents of three little girls.

Join the Lenten Worship Design Team
We're meeting this Sunday, March 3 at 11:30 am to finalize the theme and plans for congregational involvement.

Join us! If you would like to be a part of the design process, and/or participate in leading a service, both options are still open.

This is a great opportunity to share our stories and talents — and for all of us in the Alki UCC community to get to know each other better. During this important time of transition, we'll be setting the foundation for determining who we are and where we want to go as a congregation. We must complete this assessment to begin searching for a permanent, settled pastor, and now is the time to get started.

Everyone in the Alki UCC family has gifts worth sharing. We look forward to hearing from many of you during this season of searching ... this season of Lent.

Peace, Joe Mitter

UPDATE!
Your Emails/Letters Still Needed to Advocate for
Camp Second Chance (CSC)
Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan will soon decide whether or not to extend the Camp's permit to stay at its current location on Myers Way. If you haven't done so yet, please send an email or letter to:

Mayor Jenny Durkan
600 4th Avenue, Floor 7
Seattle, WA 98104

and
The Department of Human Services
700 5th Ave Suite 5800
Seattle, WA 98104

On your subject line, write "Camp Second Chance." Write a simple message like:

"Camp Second Chance is a valuable part of our community and we want its residents to stay on Myers Way. Displacement is traumatic and expensive. The money needed to move a camp should be used instead to further help this camp's residents get jobs and housing. We have a homeless crisis so it is poor policy to ruin something that works."

You can relate your experience with CSC or write whatever you want to say.

Thank you for adding your voice to this important effort!
