FREE KUNGA YOGA FEST MARCH 29 - 31
Fundraising for Clean Water for the Girls at Homes of Hope Orphanage #15 in Northern India
100% of Proceeds Donated
We are excited to offer a weekend of 40+ free yoga classes for the public. We call this event Kunga Fest inspired by our partnership as an affiliate of the Kunga Yoga School supporting one of the three non-profits we give back to quarterly.
Kunga Fest offers a great introduction to the benefits of Yoga for Life
while fundraising for a cause with a service heart.  This year we are also collaborating with Virginia Tech during Body Matters Week - focused on promoting better body image and supporting ongoing initiatives of Diversity & Inclusion offering free yoga classes to the public for all ages, abilities, shapes, sizes and colors.

Bethany Rallis is a 200 RYT, Certified Baptiste Teacher. She completed Level I and Level II teacher trainings with Baron Baptiste from 2010 to 2011 and Level III in 2018. Since 2010, she has taught with and sought mentorship from Certified Baptiste Teachers in Rhode Island and Northern Virginia. She completed Art of Assisting through the Baptiste Institute in 2016. She taught and led yoga assistant trainings at a Baptiste Affiliate Studio in Northern, VA for 4 years before moving to Blacksburg. She found her new yoga home at In Balance Yoga in Fall of 2016.

Bethany views the yoga practice as an avenue to create change in our bodies, our minds, and in our lives. Through her yoga practice, she has learned to face challenges on her mat by modifying poses, when necessary, and accepting the support of her teachers and her community. Her classes are about stepping out of doubt and into the reality of infinite possibility on your mat and in your life.

EXPLORING YOGA PHILOSOPHY CLASS WITH JEFF TIEBOUT

We are excited that Jeff Tiebout will offer "Exploring Yoga Philosophy" first at Kunga Fest on Sunday, March 31st @ Tea & Jam Cafe and then this will be a weekly offering beginning in April.

The world of Yoga is filled with many aspects, branches, and practices. They can, however, be grouped into three main branches or threads. These are Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, and Karma Yoga. In turn each of these three is made up of branches or threads, methods of practice, that in turn combine to create that branch. As practitioners of this ancient scientific art, the more we include methods from these three main branches, the more effective, efficient and all-encompassing our yoga practice becomes. Whatever our reason for practice, the more methods we include within our practice the higher the likelihood we will find what we seek; physical health, emotional balance, happiness, contentment, even the ultimate freedom of enlightenment can be uncovered within us. The more we know of Jnana, Bhakti, and Karma Yogas the more we address ourselves on all levels of our being, increasing the dawning of Yoga within us.
In this class we’ll discuss all three of these branches. We’ll define each, go over the practices that make up each,  and how they inform each other, weaving together a Yoga practice that stands the test of time.
We’ll focus on Jnana, the Yoga of knowledge by mining the incredible body of knowledge that has been recorded over time, some ancient and some more contemporary: the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Upanishads, Shiva Sutras, the recorded words of Anandamayi Ma as well as modern scholars and practitioners such as Gregor Maheale, and many others.
We’ll explore the sweet surrender of Bhakti practice. Bhakti provides the juice that is essential to keep us practicing so the fruits of Yoga can be uncovered. We’ll discuss the elements of Bhakti and how we can practice Bhakti in all aspects of life.
And in every class we’ll have time for meditation using very classic Yogic methods. We’ll relate all of this back to our asana, so no matter what level of asana we practice, we can learn to take our practice to ever deeper levels.
