Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Funds Caregiver Grant
We recently received notification of a grant award to continue our Caregiver Navigation project. I’m pleased to report the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Legacy Funds selected us for a second round of funding to provide valuable services to caregivers of older adults and individuals with disabilities across the catchment. The Legacy Funds, established to honor the late Buffalo Bills owner, are administered through the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo (CFGB).
As you know, caregivers can experience many stressors when caring for a loved one. Our program directs caregivers to online resources, referrals to community services and training, and even staff support to meet their needs. I’d like to thank CFGB for again recognizing this critical need in our communities.
West Valley Distance-Learning Site
The new distance-learning (DL) site at the West Valley Volunteer Hose Co. is up and running. We’re excited to have a new DL presence to reach health providers and community members in northern Cattaraugus County with educational resources. We’ll soon establish two more DL sites to the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation Volunteer Fire Dept. in Irving and Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville. Thanks to continued support from the USDA Rural Utilities Service, this project will soon bring our total to seven dedicated sites for distance-learning in these three counties. Our goal is to eliminate distance and travel as rural barriers to training and certification.
