HAW CREEK TO FORM NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
On June 4, over 120 neighbors gathered to learn how we can increase the safety of Haw Creek by working together with our neighbors and the Asheville Police Department. You can find a recap of the meeting here. Neighbors were able to ask a lot of important questions about recent crimes and share their observations about things they have seen in the neighborhood. Through a discussion on additional safety measures we can implement, there was great support for establishing an active Neighborhood Watch in Haw Creek. And that’s where we need your help!

HAW CREEK TO BECOME BEARWISE
Following a well-attended and informative community meeting in April, our neighbors decided to pursue becoming a BearWise community, the first in North Carolina. BearWise is a regional program that promotes responsible co-habitation with black bears through bear-proofing strategies. Haw Creek was recently featured in the Citizen-Times for our leadership in implementing the BearWise strategies.
We are looking for volunteer leaders to help Haw Creek become BearWise. Are you interested? Join us on Thursday, July 11 at 7:00 pm at St. John's Episcopal to discuss our next steps.
