Community Leadership Forum
Last week I had the honor of being invited to attend a Community Leadership Forum that was sponsored by the Olean Family YMCA. At this event, I joined other community leaders to brainstorm about services available to the people we serve. The goal was to help us all better understand what we’re doing well and what we might be able to do better or different in the future. I want to thank the YMCA for sponsoring this forum, and I look forward to seeing the final report.
Falls Prevention Workshop
Our Prevention Coordinator, Jordan Taylor, held a Falls Prevention Workshop on Tuesday at the Olean Public Library. I’m very excited with this new partnership. As a centralized location and common gathering place, it’s another valuable resource for training and information.

Several community members attended the Falls Prevention Workshop to learn how to identify common risks for falls and simple steps to prevent them. Falls are the leading cause of both fatal and non-fatal injuries in older adults, according to the National Council on Aging. We are working with Ardent Solutions on scheduling upcoming Matter of Balance trainings. Our goal is to help our loved ones find a sure footing by offering educational opportunities for older individuals and their caregivers to limit risks.
