HOLIDAY SAFETY TIPS FROM APD OFFICER FOX
We are getting close to the holiday season, and many families will be traveling for extended periods of time. To keep your home and community safe through the holiday season, these simple steps can reduce your chances of being a victim while away from home.
- Make sure all doors and windows are secured before leaving your residence.
- If you plan to have a house/animal sitter, give them a spare key prior to leaving instead of stashing a key somewhere.
- Make sure all vehicles left on the premises are locked.
- If you have security cameras, make sure they are operating properly.
- Visit your local post office and have them hold your mail until you return. This can also be done on the USPS website.
- Do not post specifics about your travel plans on social media.
- Let your neighbors know you will be out of town, so they can keep an eye on your property.
Have a happy and safe holiday season!

UPDATE ON PLANNED NEW HAW CREEK SIDEWALK
At the HCCA's September community meeting, the project manager Lora Sepion shared an update on the planned sidewalk between Bell Road and Beverly Road along New Haw Creek Road. Based on the feedback she received at the HCCA's March meeting, the current plans reduces the number of crossings from four to two, which will be marked with high-visibility lights and signs.
You can view the current design plans by clicking on this link. The initial design phase is expected to be completed at the end of 2019 and there will be opportunities to provide public comment on them before the plans are finalized. The HCCA will keep you informed of these opportunities.
