14th Annual STEMS Spring Training Conference
|
Our 14th annual STEMS Spring Training Conference is coming up March 27-28. Our annual continuing education and training event for emergency medical services (EMS) providers across Allegany, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua counties will again be held at Good Times of Olean. We’ve launched the Spring Training website to provide updates on this year’s event. There you’ll find session details, registration info and a list of sponsors. I encourage all EMS providers to register here early for a discounted price. Spots fill up fast.
The theme of this year’s Spring Training is pediatrics. Our keynote speaker will be Scott DeBoer, an international pediatric seminar leader with over 25 years of experience. The theme is fitting as we have been working at the local and state levels for over a year to advance pediatrics in emergency protocols. I’d especially like to take time to recognize some of our great organization partners and event sponsors: Trans Am Ambulance, UPMC Chautauqua WCA Hospital, Olean General Hospital, Jones Memorial Hospital and ALSTAR EMS.

STEMS Program Agency Update
|
Alicia and I traveled to Albany on Tuesday for a meeting of the NYS Bureau of EMS (BEMS) program agencies. We were advised of some upcoming changes in the design and administration of program agencies in the future. We are in a strong position to guide our program agency and regional EMS agencies through this transition.
I don’t think all of us were surprised by this; the system has been broken for a while. The positive news is we have been giving an opportunity to be a part of the design of a new system, and I am thankful that the Bureau staff has included us in this process.
