Blues News You Can Use!
It's A Wrap

As I shared last week, EVERY act competing at the International Blues Challenge hits Beale as a winner already having won a local/regional competition
to even get their foot in the door. That is what makes IBC such an incredible event for blues fans! Just drop into any competition venue or visit any showcase and you are guaranteed to hear some amazing blues. As quarter-final winners are announced, there is much excitement as four of the acts from each venue advance. Our Northwest Arkansas representitive, Brick Fields Blues Therapy, rode the winning wave into Friday night's semi-finals! The semi-final round is a tough one where only one winner from each venue advances to Saturday's finals.  Unfortunately Brick Fields ended their winning run and did not advance to finals. Thank you to all the OBS members and friends who supported them in the Challenge. Your love was clearly felt.
Now that the IBC is wrapped up for 2020, next week's board meeting will be about the upcoming events like the 2020 annual meeting and elections. If you have a nominee for the board, please consider this as a final call for nominations.

And always remember, this is YOUR newsletter! Please send feedback or suggestions our way. You can reach me by email at the address below. We appreciate our readers and want
to see your ideas included!

Board Nominations
and Annual Meeting
Is that time of year again....our nominating committee is accepting input of names for potential nominees for the board
of directors as well as the for the offices up for election in 2020. The annual meeting and elections will
be held in March, with the date
to be announced soon.
The offices of Vice President and Secretary are up for election for two year terms, and the currently unfilled office of treasurer is open for a one year term. Those being nominated must hold
a current membership in OBS, but
a new/renewed membership may
be initiated for a nominee who is not currently an active member but who wishes to accept a nomination. If you would like to nominate someone (or yourself) please email Bruce Barton
