Lots of Activity in our Training Center

This past week, our Training Center hosted several well-attended sessions for community partners addressing key health care issues. On Tuesday, we held a Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (R-CORP) meeting of local stakeholders involved in the treatment and prevention of substance-use disorders. We also held a CPR course for Universal Primary Care (UPC) and a Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) course instructed by Dr. Brian Walters later that evening. On Wednesday, we hosted a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) training in partnership with Mercy Flight of WNY.

When we built the Training Center here at 150 North Union Street, Olean, this was exactly what we had in mind: a well-connected, centralized location for training, education, meeting and sharing ideas. Narcan Training Sessions

Jordan Taylor, our Prevention Coordinator, had a marathon day Tuesday. She led four Narcan training sessions at Clarity Wellness Community in Wellsville. In total, she trained 64 people in the use of Narcan to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose and distributed 46 kits to eligible individuals. Clarity Wellness originally scheduled the training session for its clinical staff. Seeing a greater need, we opened additional sessions to the community allowing us to further train staff from the Allegany Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse (ACASA), Allegany Arc and Bolivar-Richburg Central School District.
