April Fool?
If you drove by the store in the past week you may have thought we were playing an April's Fool joke. Unfortunately not so. In response to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Reems Creek Nursery will be temporarily CLOSED out of concern for the safety of our staff and customers. We will reopen and will keep you abreast of our plans.
Most likely our next step will be telephone orders with drive-through pick up.  We are currently refilling our shelves for when the opportunity comes!  Thanks for your understanding.
In the meantime, enjoy preparing your gardens. Remember spending time outdoors is a great way to feel happy and get your creative juices flowing! Gardening is good for the soul.
Again, we are grateful for your ongoing support of our small family business. Please stay safe and healthy. Get ready with your gardening list. We will be open again soon and can’t wait to see you!
April ramblings
FROM WILMA:  As I have said before the view out my kitchen window is something I never tire of, especially in early morning.  At this time in April I love watching the progression of trees leafing out as the soft colors creep up the mountainsides.
Next week is the full moon of April - The Pink Supermoon - the biggest and brightest full moon of the year.  It is named for the creeping phlox that bloom in April.
From early morning throughout the day and into the night April is a special time in spring.

Certify Your Pollinator Garden!
Just launched and ready for applicants!
Bee City USA-Asheville’s Native Pollinator Garden Certification program allows anyone in the Asheville/Buncombe area (and beyond!) to certify their garden as pollinator habitat—certified gardens receive a certificate, and an optional habitat sign.
The goals of this program are to educate community members on the crucial elements of beneficial pollinator habitat, help beginning gardeners get their feet off the ground, and bring recognition to those who are already helping our most needed pollinators.
There is a $10 application fee, and a $35 fee for the optional sign once your garden is approved. See application.
We are very excited about the Native Pollinator Garden Certification program, and Reems Creek Nursery is working on their application now. Bee City USA-Asheville is an Urban Forestry program of Asheville Greenworks.
Plan Your Summer Victory Garden!
Now is the time to plan your summer garden!  We are transplanting tomatoes, peppers and other summer vegetables at our farm in anticipation of planting time.  We can have frosty mornings until Mother's Day, so patience right now is important.  When we are able to re-open, we will have warm season vegetables ready!
Not only will it feed you and your family, it is a great tool to teach kids how food grows!

Even a small raised bed can provide veggies!!!
We Dig Dirt!
Digging in the dirt is therapeutic for all ages. Certain microbes in the soil act as an anti-depressant and make your feel happier.
Check this article out! If you are feeling anxious or stir crazy these days…a little dose of garden time will raise your spirits.
The Garden
as Classroom
Do you have school-aged children? Many customers are using their gardens as a green classroom for their children.
Your garden and nature offer many learning opportunities – the parts of a flower, the names of trees and plants in your yard or in the woods, bugs in action, birdwatching and nestbuilding, cloud ID and so much more.
Science project:  Mark off one square foot of ground and observe and identify all the different plants and animals in that small space. It’s amazing!
We'll be back soon. Get your gardening list ready!
